WANAKA –the best winter season yet

Visiting Wanaka for a winter holiday in NZ this season is simply one of the best decisions you could make. There is always so much debate about the state of the snow. At the beginning of winter and all eyes are cast towards the mountains on a daily basis. There is a local saying about snow in Wanaka. The saying goes” snow in May never stays, snow in June is often too soon, but you can always rely on snow in July.

The town is beginning to beat the hum of the snow industry. Excitement is growing as there are more skiing choices than ever before. Treble Cone and Cardrona ski fields are top of mind with the Snow Farm for Nordic skiing. Over 900 staff are eagerly awaiting the start of the season to make your New Zealand winter wonderland dreams come true and our accommodation is almost booked to capacity. For the experienced skier, there is even more to explore than last year. A new lift over the back of Cardrona, to what was known as ‘Soho Basin’ offers 65 hectares of new skiable terrain with all the new challenges that go with it.

In a normal year, we love sharing the magic that this perfect Alpine resort town has to offer, however with all the excitement, 2021 is going to be the BEST winter season that Wanaka has ever seen.

Real Journeys continue to innovate and create new opportunities. Go check out the new base for Cardrona and Treble Cone on the edge of town on Cardrona Valley Rd. This excellent concept offers you the best place to get your pass and catch transport to either ski field. They have great breakfast food to grab on the go. You have choices of great coffee as well as pizza with craft beer after a busy day on the mountain, What more could you wish for!

When our guests ask, we match them with the best experiences that we enjoy as locals. We listen to your interests and recommend activities we know that you will enjoy. There are great options if you are having a break from the mountain for the day. It’s important to us that our guests have the opportunity to ‘live like a local. This is what creates those enduring memories and love winter in Wanaka as much as we do.
